My Areas of Interest:
I often work with adults, children and youth experiencing anxiety, stress and depression symptoms. Additionally, my clients have included children and youth with ADHD or other moderate behavior problems; women presenting with concerns related to postpartum mood changes; children and adults who have been adopted or were in the foster care system; families seeking to improve their relationships and function of their family life; and a variety of other relationship or life concerns.
My Style and Approach to Therapy:
I have a strongly client centered approach to my therapeutic work, which means you choose the goals you would like to work on and are encouraged to provide feedback throughout the therapeutic process. You will be met with genuine support as you pursue these goals. At the same time, I will offer tools, feedback and suggestions on concrete steps to take to further your progress. I will also challenge you to consider working in areas that are not comfortable at first, which is the place we often find the most growth. Some of the tools I use include: mindfulness/meditation, cognitive-behavioral techniques (examining and often changing your thoughts to affect your feelings and behaviors), brief solution focused therapy, and emotion focused therapy. When working with children, I often engage them through play, art and music. I believe strongly that change can be accomplished in any situation, even though it may take time and focus to achieve. I am here to help you along the way as you improve your relationships, decrease your symptoms or build your ability to manage life's challenges.
