Licensed Professional Counselor

My Areas of Interest:

I have focused most of my career on working with clients on overcoming their past obstacles in order to develop healthy futures. The majority of my experience has been working with children and adolescents along with their families to improve communication, connection, and problem-solving.  Trauma and complex trauma have been the focus of so much of my work.  Additionally, I have experience working with presenting concerns surrounding substance abuse, adoption, and foster care.  ADHD, behavior disorders, grief and loss, mood disorders, anxiety, and self-esteem are common presenting problems I have experience treating.  I have worked with clients from all backgrounds in community mental health agencies and have found this diversity of experience to be an asset in working collaboratively with clients.

My Style and Approach to Therapy:

While we may not always have a choice about our life's circumstances, I believe we have a choice in how we respond to these circumstances.  I also am of the mindset that clients know themselves and their families better than anyone; and so, as a therapist, I am here to help guide you on your journey toward accomplishing your goals.  I come from a strong client centered approach, which means that you are an active participant and have a voice in your treatment.  I am a certified play therapist and believe that children communicate, grow, and heal through play.  I also have participated in training on trauma focused art therapy in order to provide a creative outlet for all of my clients.  EMDR and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are integrated in my work to help my clients process trauma in a safe space.
